Historians have
different theories from the origin of the London's name. They
supposed that the name comes from welsh, British, Anglo-Saxon or
Hebrew languages.
One of the most popular theory is that “London” is the evolution of the first name which the king Lud named the city: “Kaerlud”.
The most important place at Medieval period was the London Westminster Abbey, and the Crown Jewels were in the Tower of London.
In the other hand, since the eighteenth century until the first half of the twentieth century has been the capital of the British Empire. But, in 1666 a fire destroyed much of the City, which was reconstruyed by the architect Cristopher Wren. And then, London become the largest city in the world.
